Task

The company Plastal GmbH restored an existing two-storey building on the own premises. On the first floor an assembly line was installed. Supply and removal of the material ought to be realized via automatic pallet conveyor system. Since many different pallet types are used in the automotive industry, a carrier pallet had to be designed.

Solution

The carrier pallet remains in the closed conveyor system.

In the ground floor the empty pallets are conveyed to the loading station where the carrier pallets are loaded. The material to be loaded is provided on different types of pallets. Multy-layer loading of carrier pallets is possible. Subsequent to loading, the pallet is delivered to the vertical conveyor and forwarded from the ground floor to the first floor. Then the carrier pallet is lead to the offtake station and the pallets are removed via lift truck. The empty carrier pallet is directed via conveyor line to the vertical conveyor which returns it to the loading station in the ground floor.

The whole conveyor system is designed for twelve carrier pallets running in a closed circuit. There are always six full and six empty pallets spread over the system. In the first floor the conveyor section is equipped with two high-speed doors which open to let the pallets pass through and automatically close again. Thus access to the vertical conveyor is inhibited.
