Narrow Aisle-Storage for Euro-Pallets – Two Deep Storage
Task
BBS is a well-known producer of high-quality alloy rims for cars. Since an amplification of the headquarter in Schiltach was not possible due to lack of industrial real estate, a decision for the location Herbolzheim was made. Here a concept had to be worked out to include a maximum warehouse capacity on a minimum space.
Solution
Due to the requested pick capacity per pallet the two deep narrow aisle storage was built. The storage is handled by means of positively driven narrow aisle trucks with telescopic forks. A two deep double-row storage rack has a depth of approx. 5.200 m. The storage level 0 was equipped with a tunnel for order picking, i.e. here just one pallet is stored on each side of the rack and the order picker can immediately process the single alloy rim which is individually packed and placed on the pallet. The supply of these ground floor places for order picking is realized via narrow aisle trucks.
