Task
Empty bins coming up at the packing places ought to be returned to the production department, respectively be buffered in an intermediate storage if necessary. The intermediate storage ought to be redesigned for automatic warehousing up to 3.000 empty bins.

Solution
The empty bins coming up in the packing area are removed via conveyor system to the production department. When there is no more capacity available in the production department, the empty bins are locked out and automatically piled up to a maximum of 10 bins on top of another. As soon as the pile is completed, it is warehoused in the provision storage. In case the production requires empty bins which are not available in the packing area, the piles of empty bins are automatically separated and conveyed to the production area. The piled bins are put into stock and removed from stock via transfer carriage with shuttle vehicle. This stock system has 40 stock channels, each 10-12 bins deep. The carriage runs to a stock channel and puts itself in position. The shuttle vehicle lifts up the piled bins and transports them to the first free space in the stock channel. Here the pile is stored and the shuttle vehicle returns to the transfer carriage unloaded. Removal from stock is executed in reversed order. The empty bins which are conveyed to the production area are discharged at three determined places.
