Task

The company Medice extended its range of products through purchase. As a consequence the whole order picking system had to be redesigned and order picking ought to become paperless. Together with the new installation a new EAP system with corresponding interface was implemented.

Solution

After equipment planning was finished, a conceptual design was made. The equipment includes 30 pallet places, 180 article places in the flow rack and 200 places in the storage shelving. The pallet places and the flow rack are equipped with single indicators. In the storage shelving a central indicator with light-emitting diode was installed at the storage place.

The EAP-system dictates the operator at the I-point the carton to be taken. The carton is put upright and receives a bar code which steers the carton through the order picking system. At the corresponding order picking places the carton is automatically locked out for order picking. Finished orders are returned to the conveyor system and lead to the next place of order picking. As soon as the order has been completely finished it is conveyed to the packing places via main conveyor section. In front of the packing places the carton undergoes a weight check in order to make sure that order picking was performed faultlessly. Faultless cartons are conveyed directly to the packing places, faulty cartons are locked out for inspection.

At the packing place padding- and advertising material is added to the cartons. When the order is completely processed it is delivered to the shipping section. On its way to the shipping area the carton is automatically sealed.
