Task

Due to the increasing turnover, order picking- and shipping area at the existing location had to be redesigned. In addition, repaired goods ought to be packed and dispatched in the shipping area.

Solution

The whole order picking area was redesigned. The existing warehouse equipment was reemployed and a paternoster system was additionally installed. The whole order picking area was divided in three order picking zones, being interlinked via conveyor system for bins. At the I-point the orders are positioned on the conveyor and transported to the order picking zones. There the bins are automatically removed for order picking of the corresponding goods. Subsequently the bins are pushed back to the main conveyor section and conveyed to the next order picking zone respectively to the packing zone.

In the packing zone the orders are split between three packing places, each having an own accumulation section. The employee pulls the bin to the packing table, withdraws the goods and packs them into the shipping cartons. The empty bins are removed and piled up. The completed cartons are sealed and transferred to the conveyor heading for the shipping zone. Within the conveyor section the bins are strapped crosswise by means of two automatic strapping devices and then pushed to the accumulating sections, depending on the type of shipping. Then the cartons are removed from the shipping section and handed over to the service provider.
