Task

Conergy has put into operation its first production plant in Frankfurt (Oder) where production is performed from the wafer over the cell to the finished solar module. 4 wafer testers feed 4 cell lines and out of the cell lines 5 module lines are supplied with cells. In order to create automatic processes, buffer systems, supplying successive machines, must be installed between several production stages.

Solution

An automatic small parts storage (AKL) was installed between the wafer tester and –sorter, feeding the cell lines with wafers for the production. The empty bins are returned to the wafer sorters or to the intermediate stock (automatic small parts storage). A manual feeding station or control station is incorporated in the equipment.

The machines are connected via vertical conveyors to the conveyor system which is operated at the height of approx. 3 m. This means considerable space to manoeuvre around the production machines. From the automatic small parts storage the cell lines can be fed in a way that guaranties constant wafer quality for every production lot.

At the end of the cell lines the finished cells are stored in boxes and conveyed to an intermediate storage located in the ground floor. The intermediate storage feeds the 5 module lines which produce the solar modules. The empty containers are returned to the cell lines or buffered in the automatic small parts storage.
